Chandigarh

Chandigarh is a city and union territory in northern India, serving as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana states. Known for its urban design and architecture, it was one of the earliest planned cities in post-independent India, designed by Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. The city’s name, meaning “stronghold of the goddess Chandi”, is derived from the Chandi Mandir temple near Mani Majra.

Chandigarh is special for its unique urban planning and modern architecture, particularly the Capitol Complex designed by Le Corbusier, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The city is also known for its well-maintained gardens, broad boulevards, and Sukhna Lake, a popular recreational spot. Additionally, Chandigarh is a gateway to the Himalayan foothills and offers attractions like the Rock Garden and the Government Museum and Art Gallery.
